Abstract
As an extension of our study of Antarctic cold temperatures, this study
looked at 22 winters (2003 - 2024) of Modis Land Surface Temperature data over
Greenland. We see a significant number of events colder than -70C. The spatial
distribution of cold events aligns with the small scale (1 to 5 km) hills
and valleys in the highlands of Greenland. This behavior is very similar to the
situation in Antarctic winter.
