Abstract

In response to recent challenges-including COVID-19, inflation, and shifting policies-the Center for Education, Engagement, and Evaluation (CEEE) at CIRES has adapted its research programs to be more accessible, inclusive, and supportive of student well-being. Adjustments include revising recruitment strategies to maintain diverse cohorts, enhancing mental health and field safety training, reallocating funds to counter inflation, and increasing flexibility for students balancing jobs and health needs. While some changes have been successful, others have strained staff and highlighted the need for better mentor training, improved support for neurodiverse students, and refined program structures. Moving forward, CEEE aims to balance accessibility with effectiveness while fostering collaboration and sustainability.
