Abstract
Effective climate adaptation depends not only on robust science, but on how that science is communicated and shared. The North Central Climate Adaptation Science Center (NC CASC) has developed a suite of integrated communication products designed to translate research into accessible, actionable knowledge for diverse audiences including students, scientists, resource managers and the public. This poster highlights three key communication initiatives. First, the NC CASC blog serves as a platform for undergraduate and graduate students, scientists, and partners to share their work in an accessible, narrative format, fostering science communication skills while broadening the reach of adaptation research. Second, products from the Rapid Climate Assessment Program (RCAP), now in its fourth year, include recent climate change impact assessments, synthesizing interdisciplinary science into decision-relevant reports that support land managers and communities facing climate risks. These reports translate complex data into usable insights for real-world planning and adaptation. Finally, the newly launched Science Speaks video series expands engagement through short-form storytelling, highlighting the people behind the science and demonstrating how research informs on-the-ground climate solutions across the North Central United States. By centering scientistsâ voices and experiences, the series connects audiences to the human dimensions of climate adaptation. Together, these communication approaches illustrate a multi-modal strategy for bridging the gap between science and action. By integrating written, visual and narrative formats, NC CASC is advancing an engaging and impactful model for climate science communication.
