Abstract
The Seafloor Science Information Center (SSIC) is a seafloor data and product hub developed in partnership with NOAAâs National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI). SSIC centralizes CIRESâ research and innovation for NCEIâs seafloor data holdingsâdesigning new products, tools, and services that help users apply authoritative NOAA data to real-world questions. NCEI remains the long-term archive and steward of the underlying datasets. SSIC expertise in seafloor research, product development, software and GIS development, and data stewardship complements and supports NCEI's mission through building and enhancing: robust data ingest pipelines, visualization products, modern discovery and access tools, and software applications and GIS services. These applications, products, and services help turn NCEIâs complex seafloor data collections into usable and actionable information. A CIRES-hosted SSIC website (https://cires.colorado.edu/research-groups/ssic) has been set up describing this project.
