EOMF-17. New observations from the Solar and Galactic Proton Sensor (SGPS), flown on-board NOAA's GOES-R series spacecraft

Abstract
The first two of NOAA’s Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) –R series spacecraft, GOES-16 and GOES-17, were launched in November 2016 and March 2018 respectively. Space weather instruments on-board the GOES-R series include SGPS, which supports real-time alerts of solar energetic particle events by the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) and provides data to the space science community, advancing basic space science research and understanding of space weather effects on satellite systems. This presentation includes an overview of GOES-16 and -17 SGPS observations.
