Abstract
The Western Water Assessment (WWA) is a NOAA-funded Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) program that conducts research aimed at incorporating climate knowledge into decision making in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah. In 2015, WWA is seeking to build on its 15-year history and renew support for a further 5 years to explore new directions in research for decision support in the areas of climate, usable science, and extremes. This poster will provide an overview of WWA’s mission and vision, along with a description of PIs and other key personnel. We will describe current projects and results in order to better explain how our efforts seek to integrate climate information into resource management in the region. Finally, we will describe the three new research themes we plan to pursue over the next five years: 1) Vulnerability and adaptive capacity; 2) extremes and climate risk management; and 3) designing organizations and networks for usable science.
