Submit your favorite high-resolution images in one of six categories**:
- Science in the field**
- Science in the lab or classroom**
- Landscape
- People
- Plants and animals
- General
Requirements:
- Format: Upload highest resolution .jpgs.
- Caption: Include location, date, a brief description, and any additional information or context.*** Limited to 200 characters
- Multiple entries: You can submit as many photographs as you like, but for each, please select only one category. You must upload them individually.
- Who can submit: Entries are limited to CIRES personnel. Deadline is December 31, 2023.
- Use: By submitting a photograph, you agree to the use of your image on the CIRES website, in print, and in other multimedia materials.
- Judging: A panel of three or more will select 10-15 winners among all categories. Entrants’ names will not be included in the selection process.
- No repeat entries: Images from previous years’ contests will be excluded from the judging.
The deadline for all entries is 5 pm on Dec 31, 2023. Winners will be announced before March 31, 2024.
Prize: Your photograph, printed approximately 20x30” (depending on proportions) and mounted for hanging. Winning images will be displayed in the CIRES building for two years (until 2026) and then returned to photographers when winners from the next competition are selected and printed.
** CIRES Communications wants more photos of scientists at work, so here’s an extra incentive: Photographers of the top five images in each “science in the field” and “science in the lab or classroom” will receive a large-format print shortly after the judging.
